wow, was a long day.... got up and mediated at the Speedway, breakfasted in its cafe, and took a cab to the Desert Inn. Easter Sunday traffic. ----- hadn't checked in yet, so I left my begs with the bell guy and wandered around, first out to the backyard at the D.I., then out onto the strip. The weather is just about perfect... not unbearably hot during the day, sensuously warm at night. Walked as far north as Circus Circus, where I played a none too lively 3-6 game, then got a hot dog at Westward Ho for 75¢, the 3/4 pounder. man was that thing big; couldn't eat it all. shrimp cocktail sans cocktail sauce. By about 3pm I was back at the D.I. looking for Herr Doktor -----, who still hadn't checked in. So I hung around outside just beyond the lobby, then played Caribbean Stud for an hour and won just over $200. In walked -----. We got settled in, napped and showered and all that, played three games of BG (+18, me)... decided on the C2K disco at the Venetian for the evening. Meanwhile I had a little 1-4-8-8 action at the Frontier across the street... three and sometimes four players were from the casino; so dead was the action there, but a friendly little good game.
The disco totally sucked, as did the poker at the Venetian. One guy making hopeless calls all the way, couldn't get a piece of it, lost a rack. My right leg was hurting again, now with a new sharp kind of pain in a new place, higher up than before, forcing me to walk with a rigid limp. That, plus a small amount of tiredness/fatigue, let my spirits sink. This town always sings its siren song to those who can hear. It's so hard to say no sometimes.
Just
had breakfast followed by a losing round of stud. Am off to the
Frontier. Big Dinner Gala tonight at 5:30-6:00.
